Focus timer and sleep sounds · iOS and Android
Work in quiet.
Sleep on time.
By day Halcyon counts down 25-minute sessions and stops without a word. At night it starts a soundscape, walks the volume down and switches itself off once you are asleep. The free tier needs no account and never runs out.
Anything you have downloaded plays with no connection. No ads, and no account to get started.
What it does
Inside the app
No feed, no streaks, no coach. You open it twice a day and close it again.

- 01 — Focus timer
A timer that knows when to stop
Set 25 minutes, or let Halcyon read the gap before your next meeting and fit the session inside it. The ring is the only thing on screen. Nothing counts up at you, nothing congratulates you at the end.
- 02 — Sound library
38 recordings, not one of them generated
Rain on a tin roof in Galway. A ferry engine off Vancouver Island. A reading room an hour before closing. Every sound was recorded in a real place, and nothing loops under four minutes, so you never hear the seam. One recording is about 30 MB.
- 03 — Weekly stats
Your week, in one screen
Seven bars. Minutes focused, sessions finished, and the day you always drop off. There is no streak to protect and no badge to lose — some weeks the number goes down, and the screen just shows it.
- 04 — Sleep player
The part that turns itself off
Pick a soundscape, set the fade, put the phone down. Halcyon steps the volume down over the last ten minutes and stops on its own. Your alarm still works, and the screen never lights up again.
The small print
Everything else the app does.
Everything downloaded plays in airplane mode
The timer never needs a signal at all. Finished sessions wait on the device and upload once you have a connection — or never upload, if you left sync switched off.
Blocks the twelve apps you pick
Until the timer ends. One override a day, and you have to type a reason first — which is usually enough to stop you.
Start without opening the app
A small widget, a medium one and a ring on the lock screen. One tap starts the session; you never open the app itself.
Focus with up to five people
You see who is in the room and how long they have left. You do not see what they are working on, and there is no chat — that is the point of the room.
Start, pause, end
The watch buzzes once at the halfway mark. That is all it does.
Sleep sessions can write to your phone’s health app
Off by default. Turn it on and Halcyon writes the start, the end and the soundscape name. It never reads anything back, and switching it off later leaves what it already wrote alone.
A day with Halcyon
Four moments. Roughly nine minutes of screen time.
06:30
The fade ends
The soundscape steps down over ninety seconds instead of cutting out, and then the alarm takes over. Waking up that way is noticeably easier than being jolted out of it.
09:00
First block
Your calendar has ninety minutes free before the 10:30. Halcyon offers three 25-minute sessions with two short breaks — accept it or drag the edges. It never writes anything into the calendar itself.
14:00
The dip
Twelve minutes with no timer on screen at all. There is a breathing pacer in the app, but it only ever starts by hand.
22:30
Wind-down
The interface goes warm, sound starts at 40% and the sleep timer is already set to 45 minutes. Two taps from the lock screen and you are done for the day.
The numbers
Ninety-two percent of started sessions get finished.
Twelve months of opt-in, anonymized usage from 400,000 accounts. We publish this figure every quarter whether it moves up or down — last quarter it was 90.
- 61.4Mhours focused since last August
- 27 minmedian session length
- 19 minmedian time to sleep with a fade set
- 0ads, trackers and third-party SDKs in the app

Questions
Asked often enough.
- Do I need an account?
- No. The free tier runs on nothing but the app. An account exists only so a Plus subscription can follow you to a second device, and you can add one years later without losing a single session.
- What happens to my data?
- Sessions are stored on the phone. Stats sync only if you switch sync on, and the list of apps you block is never sent anywhere in any configuration. There are no third-party SDKs in the build, which is why the download is 41 MB.
- Does it really work offline?
- Everything except downloading a new sound. When you surface, the sessions you finished offline go up in one batch and the app carries on. No sync screen to wait on, nothing to reconcile by hand.
- Can I use it for focus and skip the sleep half?
- Plenty of people do. Turn off the night tab in Settings and Halcyon is a timer with good sound. It works the other way around too: a fair number of accounts have never started a single focus session.
- Is one platform behind the other?
- Both get every feature in the same release week. Widgets and the watch app differ where the two platforms differ, and the sleep player uses each system’s own audio focus rules so your alarms behave normally.

Start with one session.
Ninety seconds to set up, no account, nothing to cancel. If it has not earned its place by Friday, delete it — there are no reminder emails afterwards.

Thank you. This is a demonstration site: the request is not sent to a real company.
This is a demo: the form works, but the Halcyon app doesn’t exist.
